It shortens the stride, moves contact under the body and takes the sting out of the braking force \u2014 all of which reads as an improvement on the first pass. Then the hip that was already under-recruiting gets asked to do the same work at a higher turnover, and the calf that was compensating starts complaining instead.<\/p>\n<p>What the plate usually shows is not a slow cadence but a late one: force peaking behind the centre of mass in the last third of a session.
