Private Hour
One coach, one court, one problem to solve.
Springfield, CA · Est. 1994
Eight championship clay courts and fourteen coaches on one site. Small squads, filmed sessions, and a junior pathway that has sent forty players into college programs.
2,400 members across three sister clubs
Est. 1994
The club was built around a single conviction: clay teaches patience that hard courts never will. Longer rallies, worse footing, more decisions per point. Players who learn here arrive at hard-court tournaments already used to constructing points rather than ending them early.
We keep squads small — never more than four to a coach — and every hour is filmed. You leave with clips, not adjectives.
Every track runs year-round on the same courts with the same coaching staff. Move between them whenever your season demands it — there is no lock-in.
One coach, one court, one problem to solve.
Groups of four, sorted by level rather than age.
Ages 8 to 17 across four tiers.
Sunday ladder across five divisions.
Har-Tru clay laid over a crushed stone base, rolled every morning and watered on the hour. Two courts sit under a permanent canopy so the winter block never moves indoors to a different surface.
The sequence is the same for a twelve-year-old and a returning club player. It exists so nobody spends a term guessing what they are working on.
A full hour on court with a head coach. Stroke video, movement screen, and an honest read on what is actually costing you points.
Two technical priorities, one physical, one tactical. Short enough to remember, specific enough to measure.
You settle into a weekly rhythm — squad, private, or both — with the plan pinned to every session sheet.
Every six weeks we re-film the same strokes and compare side by side. Priorities change only when the footage says so.
Every coach on the floor holds a national certification and spends at least twenty hours a week actually on court. None of them are booking-desk staff with a whistle.
Head Coach
Clay program lead. Builds points from the backhand corner and expects you to enjoy it.
Performance
Movement and conditioning. Runs the sliding clinic that most members book twice.
Juniors
Pathway director. Handles the tournament calendar and the conversations with parents about it.
Match play
League and strategy. Watches more opponent footage than anyone on staff and shares all of it.
Members book from Sunday evening. Anything still open by Wednesday goes out to guests at the visitor rate.

Written by the staff between sessions. Mostly about clay, occasionally about why your strings keep breaking in the same spot.
Most club players brake with the outside foot instead of riding through the shot. Here is the drill that fixes it in…
Read the pieceTwo kilos looser than you think, and why the pros restring between sets while you restring between seasons.
Read the pieceClub matches are decided between the fifth and ninth ball. We counted 300 points on court four to prove it.
Read the pieceFor a trial hour, no — any flat-soled court shoe will do. If you join, a herringbone sole is worth buying in the first month. It grips the top dressing without tearing the surface, and it will make sliding possible rather than terrifying.
Two courts sit under a permanent canopy and stay playable in all but the heaviest weather. If your block is cancelled outright, the hour returns to your account automatically and stays valid for a further month.
Yes, and most people do. Squads are sorted by level rather than age or tenure, so if your standard shifts we move you at the next review rather than making you wait for a new term.
The tournament plan is built backwards from exam periods. We deliberately skip events that fall in the two weeks before assessments, and we publish the full calendar to parents each August.
Neither. Membership is billed monthly and you can stop with thirty days' notice. Unused court hours roll over for one month so a bad weather week is never wasted.
Two fixed cameras record each court. Clips are trimmed by your coach and land in the member app, usually within twenty minutes of the session finishing. They stay in your library indefinitely so you can compare across seasons.
Drop in, walk the courts, and talk to whoever is on the floor. No appointment needed, and nobody will put you on a mailing list for looking around.
Send this and the front desk calls you back the same day with two or three slots that fit.
