What actually moved organic matter on this ground, what did nothing, and the year we nearly gave up on Block 3.

Organic matter went from 1.8% to 4.6% over sixteen seasons. Two things did almost all of that work: overwintered cover crops, and compost made from our dairy neighbour’s bedding. Everything else we tried — foliar feeds, biostimulants, three different inoculants — sits inside the margin of error on the graph.
