Look at the far shore first. A sea breeze filling in shows as a dark line with a soft edge, moving toward you at walking pace, and it almost always arrives on the same bearing on the same kind of day. Cloud over the land is the other tell: once the cumulus starts to build inshore, the breeze is on its way.
This is why we push most half-day bookings toward the afternoon slot. Mornings on this coast are often glassy, and nobody remembers a day spent motoring.
